A Tale of Two Cellies - Nokia N95 or E90
November 23rd, 2007 - posted in Announcements, Nokia
Can you believe it? – I have been so busy with work I haven’t even bothered to buy a new phone in almost 6 months! My current handset is a Sony Ericsson S500i which is amazing by the way (except for some cracking keys but that’s a different story). The problem is, I am ITCHING for a new handset. At the moment I am eyeballing two nokia phones: the Nokia N95 (8gb) and the Nokia E90.
The N95 is hands down, AMAZING, and has everything I would ever want in a phone except for the full size keyboard. Honestly that is the only real fault I can give it, the only other thing would be its size but its not much bigger than my old N80 so I think I can live with that.
A full size keyboard has been beckoning me though, and although some of the new blackberry phones are looking good I just don’t think I could handle the tiny qwerty setup. That being said, as far as qwerty phones go the E90 is the grand-daddy of them all with a grand-daddy of a price to boot… around $900.00! It also has a huge beautiful screen which would be great for watching movies away from home.
Decisions, decisions… I almost talked myself into purchasing one of the new sidekick LX models today but decided against spending 300 dollars on a phone that is subpar for my standards. I know I would just be bored with it in 2 weeks anyway, no point in extending my contract on a locked phone.
Someone please help me, what would you choose? The powerful and beautiful n95 or the ultimate but HUGE E90?

I would buy the E90. SO much cooler and, also so much more computer-a-like. Yes, it may be big, but sometimes bigger is better.
Only negative thing about this kind of “phone” is the cell, it is never enough..
Ps. Are planning to write about that S500i(I mean the full review)? I would love to hear that has there been any problems in it.

I just sold my s500i. I was considering the E90, but there are a lot of complaints about this device. Previous communicator owners complain about the lack of shortcuts (for eg. new appointments, CTRL+N), lack of good PIM functionality. Furthermore, Nokia seems to have discontinued the development of Symbian 8.0 platform, in favor 6.0. Therefore the E90 now shares the same software as the N95 (6.0), however, unoptimized for the dual (wide) screen of the E90. Calendar functionality leaves a lot to be desired, when compared to the 9300i or PPC competitors.)
I am considering to buy a very inexpensive used 9300i for the mean time, while Nokia fixes its current problems, and release the successor of the E90.
just wondering, where did you go for?

Hi again,
Question: Are you planning on reviewing the sony ericsson w580i? Because I have been told it is the same phone as the s500i, but I’m not sold. Maybe you’ll have a review on down the way… =o) Here is hoping…

I think N95 is cute. A fellow blogger suggested N95. I am kind of eyeing iPhone to replace my Palm Treo. I will see.
