MOTOROKR E6 - Video Review Update

Hey boys and girls, I have been getting a lot of email requests asking about when the Video review for the E6 will be up. I am getting everything ready tonight and hope to film tomorrow so keep your eyes peeled I should have it up either Monday or Tuesday so if you’re interested check back in a few more days and I will be ready to run through the entire interface and feature set as well as talk about some of the things I liked and did not like about the phone. Since this will be my first FULL video review I am hoping to get a lot of feedback from my readers, feel free to let me know if I REALLY need to run through something or need to emphasis something. I know a lot of people have been asking about text messaging I will definitely run through that. I am thinking to make it easier for people who don’t want to sit through a 20 minute long demo I will break some features up into sections so you can skip to the stuff you care about.

Jo to answer your question its a Triband phone which means it uses, 900, 1800 & 1900 MHz, Cingular uses 850 and 1900 Mhz. So in your case as well as mine, sometimes we could get excellent service and others spots have none. In short it does work with Cingular though. Hope that helps.
Oh and there is a Quad Band edit available. But thats another day and story.

Hey iTsCaLiKo, so would you recommend getting the phone even though it will only work on 1900 mhz ? Like does it make a big diffrence if it only works on one band and is it still managable to use, singal wise? Thanks for answering my question. Still waiting for the full review of the phone…..

Jo…Honestly I couldnt even wait anymore, even without the full review. I ordered mine on the 17th, its coming on the 23rd. lol…I just couldnt wait. Like I said it really depends on what towers your close too. I dont want to advertise on his site, but if you ordered and didn’t get the signal you wanted, I have this website to this forum, that will guide you through changing the firmware on the phone so it becomes quad band so you get the best of both bands. Its a really easy process, simple usb connection and a program.

iTsCaLiKo About the signal thing, I’m not does kind of people who always need to have perfect signal everywher you know? I just wanted to know if its descent enough with no problems cause i wouldnt want to get the phone and ending up always having bad signal. I cant wait either to buy, but im holding myself to not buy it so fast and waiting until the review. From which website did you order yours? Jo…I know what you mean about the signal, i’ll end up doing the quad band because at my college those rooms have dense walls. Its a really easy mod. I waited till monday and didn’t see the review lol so tuesday I ordered it. Hope the texting isn’t that big of an issue! Us college students need that. lol I usually buy my unlocked phones from ebay. but this time I ordered from http://www.hks-mobile.com They have the best for the price, and 1 year limited warrenty included. They had a slight problem with my shipping thats why im getting it late, but they use fed ex 1-2 day priority and provide you with a shipping number
olivia…I have the H3 right now paired with a unlocked Slvr L7. It works just fine. The H3 is v1.2. It would work just fine with the Rokrs v2.0, its backwards compatiable. The higher version of the Rokr is basically a highspeed version of bluetooth.

iTsCaLiKo…can you let me know when you do the modification on the bands if it works and how to do it cause i think i might want to do it to, but it doesnt change anything on the phone right? I checked out the webiste, but its doesnt look to reliable. Do they also give you 1Gb of memory with the phone included ? The fedex priority shipment thing is that for all phones without any extra charge? I didnt see where it said one year warranty included and i was confused cause when i was reading the payment types it only said “payment may be made by paypal payment, Western Union, Money Gram, or for Canadian Customers ” does that mean you cant pay wit like visa or mastercard? I’m not to smart with this online buying things… im asking you this cause it sounds to go of a deal to get 1 year warranty, plus 1GB of memory and fast shipment for a lower price u know….thanks again for answering my questions and helping me out…ps. how much was shipment for you..lol

Jo…I ordered mine from that site after hearing high praises about how they handled business & customers, very well at that. Yes the 1gb is included in the price. When you check out, theres a option that says you can pay by paypal or credit card. I choose paypal because they have good protection about being scammed and what not, But credit card is an option. About the warrenty, I emailed them about 2 weeks ago asking if they had a warreny and this was their reply
“Hi there, We cover our phones with 1 year limited warranties. If within
the first 3 months the phone is found to be defective due to
manufacturing defects in workmanship or Software related issues, we will
cover the replacement of the phone and or make any necessary upgrades to
software free of charge from you to us, and from us back to you. This

Even though my phone was delayed, I have various emails from them letting me know the situation. The quad band doesnt change anything on the phone, doesnt delete games, apps or anything. The phone actually has quad band on the phone, its just the market over-seas doesnt use 850mhz so motorola turned it off. Shipping I payed around $30 but you get what you pay for…1-2 day priority.
When monday comes I’ll take pictures and everything if your thinking about ordering from that site.

iTsCaLiKo…Thank You soo much for answering my questions i realling appreciate it….Yea I fianlly get it of how the quad band thing works…..Im probably going to order from the website becuase i checked it out on popularelect.com where they sell it for $395 and like UPS ground was $20 which comes out to $315 while from HKS Mobile its 389 plus 30 which is around $320 which is 5 buks more but you get warrenty and 1Gb of memory which i think is tottaly worth it right? So i think ill prorably get it from them but let me know how it is when you get it….One last question do you pay taxes on the phone or would $320 be the final price?…thanks again

Sorry guys, the charging unit for my camcorder decided to stop working a few days ago, I had to special order one off ebay. Anyway it came in yesterday night so give me another night and I should have everything filmed and edited. I got most of my filming done today but I still need to edit and get the time down. I am debating right now on just how detailed to go.

hey, just letting ya know, i got this phone on ebay unlocked with shipping it was $302, but i also bought the three year squaretrader insurance for only $34.99. i am suppose to get mine on the 23rd too, i bought it on the 17th also. i am sooooo looking forward to it. i was waiting for his updated review too, but i got too impatient.

Sorry Jo…But yes, Order from HKS Mobile, Mine came with 2 stylus’s, Headphones, All the manuals and both CD’s and the 1gb Card. The memory card came seperate packaging just but same box. The card came in retail plastic like you’d buy in a store. Plus the warrenty. Cant beat it. Im doing the quad band edit tonight or tomorrow. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Yah no problem. lol…My total was $334.48. 1-2 Day Shipping. Word of advice make sure your at home when its delivered because I was sleep when fedex came (8:24 a.m.) lol and I had to wait till 6:30 pm to go pick it up lol. Its signature required. I’ll take pics and stuff in about 30 mins or after its charging.

This phone is sweet. I just got it a few days ago, and its amazing. Once you get used to it, you will love it to death. It has so many features, and the buttons at the bottom come in handy too, which the iphone and lg prada dont have. Reception is amazing too! If you have doubts, DONT! LOVE IT

I am having doubts about this, and it’s mainly due to the real player, does this mean I must have RealPlayer on my computer to use this? and do i have to convert the format to .rm? Battery says its 7 hours talk time, can anyone confirm the actual number? Also, the icons and skin for some reason turns me off, is their customizable skins?(linux..)

Vane I can agree with you…I cant put the phone down.
Dagan no you dont have to have real player on your comp for it to work. The phone can be seen as a USB mass storage so drag and drop what you want. It supports a lot of formats. Battery well its pretty close I haven’t been using it everyday all day but I have set up mms, used the browser, camera and still havent had to charge. As for as skins, there’s 3 stock themes each with different icons. You can always find a site and get more.
Dagan last but not lease lol…Where exactly are you located. I know what you mean about not wanting everyone to have it. When I bought my slvr L7 unlocked last year, the following week I found out Cingular was going to start carrying it! I was highly pissed. But good news is, there’s not 850mhz band that comes enabled and everyone doesn’t know how to mod. But if Motorola decided to enable it then damn we’d have a problem. I dont see it coming over into the U.S. though.

How responsive would you say realplayer is?
So when you call someone.. what if your face touches it?(cuz i know the iphone has a sensor for that.. to stop unwanted keys to be pressed)

You should be just fine Dagan. Like I said i really doubt its coming over. Our version is actually the A1200 Ming, The e6 is for China. I actually like one of the skins, it’s a black and grey one, looks professional. The iphone skin yah you can get it off one of these sites around. I haven’t really paid attention to the face touching the screen while a call is active. There is a screen lock though.
Oh and the Radio is suprisingly good…you can hide it in the background as well…
Realplayer…I tried it out just for you, so far its not bad. Pauses when you get a phone call resumes when your done. Sound isn’t bad. Can play from your 1gb card. Show’s details of the song, bit rate etc etc. Not all slow and one thing I like is you can have the player going on in the background and send text, or just do other stuff on the phone.

iTsCaLiKo, hows the text messaging with the stylus? do you really need to use it in order to text? could you take a pic of the screen in the texting mode and another one with your thumb over the letters so i can see the relative size of the letter buttons to a human thumb, please? thanks in advance.

Olivia you could text without the stylus but the online keyboard is very small. So the stylus is a huge help. I didnt think I was going to like it, but the word prediction is really good, and I think its almost as good as t9 when you get used to it. As far as textin and driving…forget about it!!! I’ll work on those pictures, got a new camera, need to know how to focus it on while looking at the screen. Any idea’s?

He will start to lose Traffic if he does not follow-up on this. I went ahead and bought PocketPC 6700 instead because it was more bang for buck(WiFi) a bit less battery(4 & half hours talk time) and I can edit Word, Excel files and such.. Windows Mobile I think has more apps you can install especially like the iPhone theme which looks great on the pocketpc, as well as the side slide-out keyboard, which is better for emailing and texting.. the screen is 2.8″ instead of 2.4″ and dont forget WiFi(Although the bluetooth is only 1.2 which is fine for Headsets)

To answer your question, it depends on the size of the sd card. I have a 1 gb right now. I believe the max is 5:00:00. no matter what size though.

To be honest I looked at this phone in person at a local import store. It looks great, dont get me wrong, but the interface can use A LOT of fine tuning. Why? I understand its a Linux Phone, but doesn’t that mean it should be hackable? The interface is completely horrid, even if you do spice it up with the iphone theme(which looks great) but using it shows how jittery and reallly shows how much time was really put into the interface. Overall I thought this might be a sweet little pda-like phone, and it is, but the interface is what made me decide to go with a Sony Ericsson for another 100$ (P990i) which is packed with more features. This phone can be considered a fashion music phone with a poor interface. To me its exactly like buying an LG Shine, while is looks great and people will turn heads to see it, its functions are quite basic and the interface leaves a lot to be desired.

Because my uncle who lives in hong kong is gunna buy me the e6 and im moving down to california and switching to cingular and probably gunna need all frequencys on my phone to get good service down there. and if you have done it, how? thanks

Hello All,
Came across this review of the E6 and noticed people talking about us and the E6.
I own this phone personaly and its a great phone. Had to do a small change here and there for Quad Band and to fix a email bug but other than that the phone works great. I have the same gripe about the real player but there is other players you can use. For example there is Zplayer which works well.
