5 ways to hate the new LG Shine from AT&T

So apparently AT&T is going to be selling a new variant of the LG Shine (the successor to the ever so popular chocolate series). I had the opportunity to own the original shine model and the first thing that stands out to me is that the new Shine (AT&T) no longer has the scroll wheel on the front below the screen. Instead AT&T has gone with a boring 5 way nav button like every other phone.
Now don’t get me wrong, the shine wasn’t the worst handset I ever owned, if nothing else it is definitely a gorgeous phone and all the pictures you have seen don’t do it justice. The brushed metal and reflective glass screen are as beautiful as they are easy to get dirty. The thing is though that the shine didn’t really have a lot going for it, and maybe I am just biased having owned so many smart phones, but it just kind of struck me as a middle of the road kind of phone. The only real reason to buy this phone for the price they are selling it for is if you just want something pretty and the scroll wheel (although kind of a gimmick) was a big part of the style and allure of the phone. Once you add on the locked down AT&T operating system and you take a mediocre phone to kind of lame.
I don’t know, maybe I am being to harsh on the LG shine. Sure it comes with a 2 mega pixel camera, HSDPA and video share support but are any of those features really so great considering the phones price tag?
My dislike for the shine may also be due to the fact that I only owned the phone for 3 weeks before dropping it for the first time off my desk one evening. The first and only drop ever received by this phone which caused the mirrored glass screen to crack on each end. I have owned a lot of phones in the past year, and have dropped the occasional handset but I have never had one crack a screen… I think the worst part about it is that the shines looks were all I really cared about, and the mirrored screen was the biggest part of the novelty so having a glass screen killed the last ounce of respect I had for the shine. Lets hope that AT&T took the time to beef up the screen issue before they hit the streets.
Have any of you purchased a shine? Let me know what you think about it.

How could I hate the new LG Shine? Well, probably I’ll just hate it because I am not used to this kind of device. Hmmh, prefer not choose this brand. Useful information anyway. Keep it up!

I am so angry I bought this phone.. and spent $300. My screen also cracked and is completely black. I’ve only had it three weeks and haven’t even dropped it!!!! I tried to take it back within the 30 day limit and they told me they couldn’t accept it. They told me since I have insurance with AT&T I could buy another one for $50. I don’t want the same phone though!!! How is this phone so popular still? I should be able to throw my phone across the room and nothing happen to it. I can’t even figure out how it cracked. I keep it in a special place in my purse. I shouldn’t have to worry about my phone like someone would worry about fine china getting broken. I want my money back.

I am ANGRY as well!!! I had this phone for 7 days. I put it in my pocket and got it out… broken!!! How is a screen that breaks if you touch it not a defect!? $150 down the drain. Speaking with ATT as I type this.

Mine also cracked after only having it for like a week, AT&T we’re not at all helpful the workers at the store told me I had to wait 60 days to file an insurance claim and when I talked to the customer service reps they couldn’t even pull up my account and said that my number didn’t even exist! AT&T Has the worst sevice so don’t break your shine if you purchase one, you better keep it safe 24/7.

I bought the Shine three months ago and I went through two Shines already. First one: A large black spot appeared on the screen and they gave me a new one. Last night I flipped it open and the screen looked like a laser light show on pause… all sorts of random colors and shapes filled the screen. Brought it to the store where I bought it and the verdict: Bleeding screen. No insurance, no replacement… buy another phone. I now have to cough up another $200+ for yet another phone. THE SCREEN ON THE LG SHINE IS GARBAGE AND BREAKS WAY TO EASILY. YOU ARE WARNED.

THESE LG SHINES ARE PIECES OF CRAP. I HAVE THE PHONE FOR 3 WEEKS AND THE SCREEN CRACKED. I PAID THE $50 INSURANCE FOR A REPLACEMENT AND HAD IT A WEEK AND THE SCREEN BROKE ON THE NEW ONE. I NEVER DROPPED IT OR ANYTHING. IT BROKE WHEN I PUT PRESSURE ON IT WHILE OPENING IT. THESE PHONES SUCK. AT@T SAYS IT IS PHYSICAL DAMAGE AND THERE IS NO WAY THAT WARRANTY WOULD COVER IT. I’D LIKE TO SHOVE THIS PHONE UP LG’S A**.

It’s a shame because it’s a decent looking phone, but everything I’ve heard is that it’s the biggest piece of junk. A co-worker was just in my office saying how she had to get to Verizon to buy one for her daughters birthday. I’ll bet that thing is obliterated by the end of the week.
