Can you believe it? – I have been so busy with work I haven’t even bothered to buy a new phone in almost 6 months! My current handset is a Sony Ericsson S500i which is amazing by the way (except for some cracking keys but that’s a different story). The problem is, I am ITCHING for a new handset. At the moment I am eyeballing two nokia phones: the Nokia N95 (8gb) and the Nokia E90.
The N95 is hands down, AMAZING, and has everything I would ever want in a phone except for the full size keyboard. Honestly that is the only real fault I can give it, the only other thing would be its size but its not much bigger than my old N80 so I think I can live with that.
A full size keyboard has been beckoning me though, and although some of the new blackberry phones are looking good I just don’t think I could handle the tiny qwerty setup. That being said, as far as qwerty phones go the E90 is the grand-daddy of them all with a grand-daddy of a price to boot… around $900.00! It also has a huge beautiful screen which would be great for watching movies away from home.
Decisions, decisions… I almost talked myself into purchasing one of the new sidekick LX models today but decided against spending 300 dollars on a phone that is subpar for my standards. I know I would just be bored with it in 2 weeks anyway, no point in extending my contract on a locked phone.
Someone please help me, what would you choose? The powerful and beautiful n95 or the ultimate but HUGE E90?

It was my brother actually who pointed me to the first photos and information for the new Nokia 6500 phones. His favorite? The 6500 Slide. My first impression was that it was kind of simple and boring, like a watered down N80 but as I have been watching videos and looking at photos of the new handset I have to say that the design has really grown on me. The clean, simple lines make the phone look incredibly modern and sleek. So far I have been seeing it online for $400-$600 bucks which I think is a bit high. If I could find one around 350 I think that I would definitely consider picking one of these up. Boasting a 3.2mp camera, microSD slot, 20mb of internal memory, EDGE, 3G and bluetooth 2.0 you really cant go wrong with a phone like this. More photos after the jump…

You know, I am not a big fan of low end phones; if thats what you are looking for then this website is probably not the best place for news but I will occasionally mention some that I feel warrant some attention; this is the case for the Nokia 2630. Now in case you cant tell from my posts, I am a bit of a Nokia fan but theres a reason that these guys are the biggest cellphone maker in the world and that is QUANTITY and Variation. You can get a high end N-series or a low end budget phone like this 2630 which coincidently is Nokia’s thinnest phone ever at just 9.9mm
Of course Nokia didn’t skimp on the features to slim the phone down, the handset still comes with bluetooth, camera, FM radio, MP3 player and all for a price of around $120 bucks. Not to shabby at all Nokia, now lets make something prettier to compete with the Wafer/Trace and the MotoSlvr.

Finally, a US carrier with the smarts to add an NSeries phone to their lineup. The Nokia N75 may not be the flashiest phone on the market but… A: It’s a Nokia so you know you are getting a quality product. B: It has almost any feature you would want from a cellphone like a 2mp Camera, Bluetooth, Full web browser, ect. The main feature that really makes this phone shine is the integrated music player and those handy music control buttons on the front of the flip screen. I haven’t had a chance to play with this phone in person but if the speaker quality is similar to that of my N80 then I think this phone is going to be a great hit.
Oh and I forgot the best news of all, it looks like with a slight contract extension you can snag the phone for somewhere around $100 to $150 which is amazing for any Nseries phone.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy catching the latest episode of The Bachelor: Officer and a Gentlemen as much as the next guy, but I have never really felt the urge to watch TV on a screen the size of a matchbox. The Nokia N77 is for people on the go who are looking for some entertainment from their cellphone. The N77 comes with an integrated DVB-H for mobile TV viewing on a 2.4″ QVGA 16 million color display at 320 x 240 resolution. Running off S60 Operating System the phone comes with other standard NSeries features such as camera, bluetooth, music player ect… No word on pricing or availability yet. Leave me a comment and harass me if you want more info and I can dig deeper.

It wasn’t very long ago that T-mobile began carrying the Nokia 5300 Xpress Music, I had a chance to play with it for a few moments about a week ago and walked away moderately impressed. The 5300 offered by T-mobile is a nice entry level handset for most users but now Nokia has announced their 5700 which combines the functionality of the 5300 and the rotating design found in the 3250.
The 5700 has a decent sized QVGA screen, runs quad-band GSM/EDGE, has bluetooth, a 3.4mm headset for your stereo headphones, and has a 2 megapixel camera which will also do video calls (if your provider allows it). Running Symbian S60 the phone supports a number of audio formats including: WMA, MP3, AAC, as well as eAAC+ and MP4. According to Nokia, the phone supports up to 1500 tracks using the optional 2gb MicoSD card. The most interesting feature of this phone is the rotating base which shows off a keypad on one end and music playback controls on the other. Definitely an attention getter once this phone hits the streets. I will have to keep my eye out for it when it hits Europe for about 350 EUR sometime around Q2 of 2007

For those of you looking for a simple no frills cellphone, Nokia announces their 5070. This small simple handset boasts basic SMS, MMS, audio messages, and VGA camera for $135 which means you can grab a good phone without breaking the bank. If you’re anything like me, there are some situations that you don’t want to take your high end phone and having a small cheap handset like this is a great alternative. The Nokia 5070 should be released in either blue or red sometime around Q2 in Europe.
